Minus 1 Band

I had just started university in 2003 where I met Masoud Fayyazzadeh, a passionate guitar player and composer, and we became best friends. I had already discovered my love and passion in poetry long ago so combining the two passions we started working on a song and music video named ” Icarus Dream” which kicked off the idea of launching an Alternative Rock band called ” Minus 1″ in the most religious city of Iran ” Mashhad’ where music of all types were banned.

In a short time, I had crafted almost 40 poetic lyrics summed in four albums. “Minus 1” had become the most famous  Iranian Rock band achieving massive record sales, festival awards, appearing on domestic and international music channels, podcasts and radios. A well known track like “Two Black Waves” was the top hit for weeks consecutively.

“Minus 1” was even admired by other Rock bands and their members such as ,Babak Riahipour (Ohum) , who had praised the modern poetic lyrics which were the main player of triumph and made “Minus 1” outshone among all other Iranian Rock bands. I devoted two precious decades of my life crafting words that would tell the story of my first poetry book ” The Woman with Chlorophyllic eyes” chapter 1: “Somewhere like Taiga”. There I encapsulated my complex feelings and philosophies into concise, powerful phrases that helped me, my fans and the listeners navigate the meaning of life.
